New UK ADHD and autism assessment service launches to tackle growing care gap
A new ADHD and autism assessment and support service has launched in the UK, offering rapid access to diagnosis, alongside long-term prescribing and follow-up care.
Neurodivergems, developed by clinicians from Stonehill Medical Centre in Bolton, aims to address a growing gap in care for patients who struggle to access ongoing medical support after receiving private diagnosis.
Demand for neurodevelopmental assessments continues to increase across the UK, with NHS waiting lists in some areas stretching to several years. Many patients who seek private diagnosis struggle to access ongoing medical support afterwards. Neurodivergems aims to close this gap by combining diagnostic assessments with ongoing medical support, including prescribing, follow-up reviews and practical guidance.
The clinic offers ADHD assessments for adults and autism assessments for both children and adults. Neurodivergems places particular emphasis on face-to-face initial assessments, which are widely regarded as the gold standard in delivering thorough and clinically robust diagnostic evaluations. Follow-up appointments can be arranged remotely based on preference.
The assessment process begins with a free discovery call, followed by a structured clinical evaluation carried out by experienced specialists, using nationally recognised assessment tools. to support a diagnosis
All assessments follow NICE clinical guidelines and use a multidisciplinary approach with oversight from consultant psychiatrists. Patients receive a detailed diagnostic report and guidance on accessing support in education, employment and daily life.
The clinical team includes Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Tarun Khanna, alongside GPs Dr Zafar Chowdhury, Dr Amanda Stafford, Dr Shaneela Ibrar and Dr Niruban Ratnarajah, bringing extensive experience in neurodevelopmental care, developed through years of working together at Stonehill Medical Centre, Bolton.
Addressing a national care gap
Across the UK, demand for ADHD and autism assessments continues to rise, while NHS services struggle to keep pace. By September 2025, more than 200,000 people were waiting for an autism assessment in England, with around 90 per cent waiting longer than the recommended 13-weeks. In some areas, waiting times can stretch to several years.
Changing the narrative around neurodiversity
Natalie Kakoullis, Business Manager at Neurodivergems, said: “Too often private services focus only on the assessment, leaving patients without the ongoing care. Neurodivergems was created to change that by combining high-quality diagnosis with continued clinical support including medication management and follow-up care.
“We believe that neurodiversity, when diagnosed and managed, can help individuals fulfil their individual potential and achieve remarkable success in their personal life, relationships and within work and career. Our aim is to deliver expert, evidence-based assessments that uncover not only diagnosis, but understanding and helping individuals recognise the challenges and the gems within their neurotype.”
Fast access to assessment
Neurodivergems aims to offer appointments within one week, significantly reducing the long waits currently experienced through many public pathways.
Assessments start from £995 for ADHD and £1,995 for autism, with services available to patients across the UK.
